Autumn Council 2015

Autumn Council 2015

Thirty-three members gathered at the Church of the Holy Name Cumbernauld on Saturday, 3rd October to worship God and to reflect on the last triennium and look to the future with the new Trustee Board.

Members received a warm welcome from Rev Moira Jamieson, the congregation and Mothers’ Union members.  The theme of the worship was Running the Race. Our Chaplain Rev Lucy Ireland reminded members of the need for perseverance as we run the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). The race of life can be negotiated in small steps.

It was a delight to welcome two new members and to also welcome one member who had joined from another branch.

Another joy was having our three visitors from Sweden participate in worship with members from Glasgow & Galloway Diocese. Elsie Murray provided delightful music.

Following worship, members and visitors enjoyed warm hospitality provided by members at Holy Name and had the opportunity to purchase MUE goods and crafts prior to Council.

During Council the election of new trustees took place. Jill Cameron was elected Diocesan President and Wendy Petrie elected as Vice President. The other members of the Board are Margaret and Richard Horrell, Hilary Moran, Lesley Lucas, Rev Moira Jamieson and Sue Brough. Elaine McAlpine continues in her role as Diocesan Secretary and for now William Walker continues as Diocesan Treasurer. Thanks were expressed to those whose term of office has completed and prayers were said for the new Board which assumes responsible from January 2016.
