Penicuik Branch

The Branch holds it meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month after the Midweek Communion. They take the form of lunch followed by a speaker.

At the time of writing, the following speakers are planned:

11th February 2015

Angela Sibley on the topic, Single and Widowed.

25th Februray 2015

Rev’d Lindsay, Rector at St James.

28th January 2015 Meeting

Our speaker for this meeting was the Rev’d Tony Bramley, NSM at St James. He showed us a very interesting DVD about Lyme Disease, an illness that is very difficult to diagnose and treat, but one that has devastating affects on those who suffer from the chronic version.

Tony’s wife, Lorna, who is one of our members, is a sufferer and, because doctors have many differing opinions, it is difficult to get diagnosed in the first place and then to receive what many sufferers have been found to need, long-term antibiotic treatment, much longer than the 2 to 4 weeks provided in the current official guidance. It is recommended that members should take an interest in this problem.

Worldwide President at Penicuik

We were delighted to welcome Lynne Tembey, Worldwide President of the Mothers’ Union, and our own Provincial President, Jean Richardson to the branch on 21st September 2014 during their visit to Edinburgh Diocese.

Above, you can see Lynne Tembey (right) enjoying a chat with branch members, Rose Mackenzie (left) and Margaret Coull.

Below, Jean Richardson (left) is chatting to another member, Catherine Pow.

There’s more about this event in the Edinburgh Diocesan Newsletter for October 2014 which can be downloaded from this page.  There is also a photomontage of the event that can be downloaded by clicking here (420kB PDF).
